Fresh Meat 2: Scheduled to Air in Spring 2010

Ok, so when I first found about this upcoming challenge, and saw who the cast was, I wasn't too thrilled because the cast sounded dreadfully boring. Now, having watched the entire season of The Ruins, I'm kind of excited, because of the dynamics between certain cast members, such as Kenny and Sarah.
If you watch The Ruins Reunion, you'll see that Wes and Kenny appear to have made up, but both are always fun to watch, regardless. They're entertaining, especially Wes, who is never afraid to bring the drama.
Kaitlin (the transexual from RW: Brooklyn) should also be interesting to watch.
& of course, you never know what to expect from the new castmembers. I know it's hard to get excited about them when you don't know what to expect, but if they're anything like the Fresh Meat cast, it should be interesting.

so wait, these episodes must air VERY shortly after being filmed, because in this week's Aftershow of The Hills (see video below), they talk about how Stephanie's not in this episode due to rehab because of DUI. So if she's currently in rehab while the last episode was filmed, even though she only decided to go a few days ago, then these shows air the same week they are filmed. The drama is basically live. I didn't know that.

Audrina's Side of the Story

Re: this episode:

Last episode I spoke to Lo about meeting w/ Mr Justin bobby AGAIN. After meeting w/ him at the Thompson, things seemed to be friendly and totally opposite of what I expected. Trying to clear the air, he reminisced about us and came out confessing a lot. I had no idea where he was coming from. I was hesitant in even going, but I'll see what his deal is and figure it out. I had no intentions of getting back together w/ him, but after the Thompson wanted to tell him if he's trying to make things work it will be A LOT of work. Is it really worth it? Cut to THE most awkward dinner! I felt we were strangers. I had so much to say but didn't know where to start or why I was even there. He basically told me A LOT more than u guys actually saw but u saw the jist of it! He said he got out of my life when I told him to. he didn't!!! He still continues to weasel his way...this is my life!! Anyways some things he told me about Kristin didn't make sense, but I figured maybe he found his match! I really had nothing left to say to him and owed him nothing so I left! That dinner really opened my eyes! It was time to stop playing w/ fire...it was time to put it out for good!

Johanna's Surprising Exit

As you saw, Johanna volunteered herself into The Ruins because she was "mentally not there." According to several teammates, she'd been mentally checked out for a while now, and Johanna confirmed this, saying it was hard to really keep her head in the game. She looked happy when she lost, in spite of the fact that she lost $8,000 and could have made it to the end, since her whole team liked her. In her exit interview, she said she was happy to be leaving, but, "I'm gonna miss the people, even though they're all really annoying."

I was surprised by this, especially since I thought she had a hardcore crush on Kenny, you'd think that would motivate her to wanna stay, like it did on The Island. I guess she's over it. I wonder why she ended up getting so annoyed with everyone. Maybe it had something to do with Wes leaving?

No one seems to know why. I do notice she's rather quiet on all the Ruins Replays with Kenny, Ibis and Evan. She wasn't on this last one, for the first time, nor was Kenny. Instead, it was Susie, Sarah, Evan and Johnny. Susie didn't know why Johanna lost her motivation, either, or what was going on with that.

I don't know why I'm so curious, maybe because I know your experience, anywhere, is all about the people. If you don't particularly like the people, you'll want out.

Anyway. who knows.

About last nights episode.... - Katie Doyle's MySpace Blog |

There are a lot of things to be said about last nights episode. Yes, I am ashamed, mortified...you name it. However, many things happened that were not shown. Evan and Kenny thought it would be hysterical to pour baby powder in my suit case. All over my clothes. Then I discover the plunger in my bed. That is just disgusting. I do not like to be the target of anybody's joke. I think I have made that pretty clear over the years. Regardless, Kenny and Evan do not care. They just want to be amusing, silly and have fun. But, they seem to only want to do it at someone else's expense. Not mine, fuckers.
Yea, first of all I would like to say that I wish someone would remind me I am on a tv show while I am there. Apparently, I forget that with the lack of make up and my amazing clothing options. Polka dot pajama pants and a tank top that barely holds my boobs in? GROSS. So, yes I get it...
As far as the Sarah story line is concerned...she isn't that bad. She did try a little too hard to fit in with the "Champion" team which was bizarre because she should have been trying with her own team. But everyday, morning or night- she never left our room. I was not the only one who thought that was weird. People called her "superfan". Her obvious crushes on Evan and Kenny were more than apparent. And yes, the guys did say bad things about her when she would actually leave the room. She also made several references to me being "crazy". Ok, I am a bit of a nutcase. But for your bitch ass to say it? Um..its not going to make me like you. Especially when she tells other people who then tell me. Tell me. I am pretty direct, I expect the same.
So when the plunger incident happened, I was drunk and pissed. But I am normally level headed when I drink unless you provoke me. Which is pretty obvious they did. I will sit and talk bullshit and laugh for hours, but if your going to fuck with me- I am going to react. DUH. And they know that too, which is why they find it so entertaining. Trust me, I get it. Wish I could explain it to myself as it happens, but I am too angry to rationalize.
So Evan makes a remark about how the "blue team" was just in the room. I immediately associate Sarah as part of that blue team. But then, I see her laughing. And because I am pissed off, I need someone and she became the target sense I already didn't like her. Fair? Absolutely not. Justified? Nope. I am admitting to being a real asshole.
The next day, I felt bad. I knew that my anger was misdirected. I should have flipped out on Kenny and Evan. Funny how neither one of them even remotely defended her as I screamed. They let her take the heat and even laughed about it. They don't care. That is the type of guys they are. They are on the wrong show. They should be on Tool Academy.
Seriously, I have heard the same jokes with Evan for the past 5 years. He used them on Freshmeat. He switches it up a bit to cater to his new audience. I am so completely confused how these 2 assholes have managed to be popular from this show. They were NEVER even on Real World or Road Rules! And because it IS the title of the show, um...I am still confused where they fit in. As far as I am concerned, they guest star on the show.
Unfortunately, that's not how it works. I am also not in the editing room at BMP. Because with all the Wes drama, I don't think Evan needs to constantly be the mouthpiece for the team. Its ALWAYS what Evan says that makes air. Why not show Darrell's, Syrus or Derricks opinion? Must it always be from Evan and Kenny? For fucks sake, I lived the show and get bored watching the same 2 pricks put there fucking opinion in over and over. The house had 28 people! Use Ibis, Kim, Adam...anyone but them over and over and over. I get it, they are witty. But still...
About last nights episode.... - Katie Doyle's MySpace Blog (read the rest)

I like her more after reading this. I've always liked her but she came across as kind of trashy on The Ruins, but at least she's aware of it (the ones with no class usually aren't) & I'm glad she clarified her position a bit.

I see where she's coming from with Sarah, anyway. By that, I mean I could see how she'd be annoying, for sure. Especially since she's new and kisses ass to Kenny and Evan to a point where she followed them all around and never left their room. If I were in Katie's position, I'd be annoyed as well.

Anyway, as the link says, there's a lot more to read, that's just the 1st half of her post, so click the link to read the rest of it.

The Ruins - Episode #6

Exclusive Interview with Ibis Del Mar

The Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Ruins - Exclusive Interview with Ibis Del Mar : RealityWanted.com: Reality TV, Game Show, Talk Show, News - All Things Unscripted Social Network Casting Community

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you come back to do another challenge?
A. Ibis: I actually had an accident two years ago where I was paralyzed from the waist down. For two years, I didn’t do any extreme stunts or anything. I went back because I wanted to get that side of me back again and do what I used to do.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: I’m surprised MTV didn’t talk about that. Was it something you wanted to keep private or were you open about it?
A. Ibis: I was open about it because I would be the first to say that my abilities aren’t as badass as they used to be, four years ago, mainly because my body isn’t what it used to be. I went through full rehabilitation. You can’t hide that. It doesn’t surprise me that they didn’t make it a big deal because there are so many other things that they worry about such as the Wes storyline and things like that.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Who are your friends on The Ruins, that you talk to outside of the game?
A. Ibis: I’m friends with Johanna, Kenny, Katie, Kim, Johnny, and Susie.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You had a lot of people on your team that make a lot of noise. Was it more your strategy to lay low and stay quiet, or your personality?
A. Ibis: It was my strategy 100%. I think the only time you saw a little bit of who I am is when I was pissed off at Johnny Bananas. I didn’t want my one moment to be screaming but it made me have emotion. I was this quiet wallflower on the show but that’s not me. I wouldn’t have been cast originally if that’s really who I was.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: In her interview last week, Katie said she felt like this is the Kenny and Evan show. Do you agree?
A. Ibis: Absolutely! It’s more or less like The Evan Show and Kenny is the co-host. I was joking around that I could’ve video chatted my way through this challenge because I had so little air time. I kind of knew that would be the case after we wrapped filming. It’s different now. The whole experience is very different. People aren’t the way they used to be. It’s not as genuine.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did you want Veronica in The Ruins for strategic or personal reasons?
A. Ibis: Simply strategic. I have nothing personal against Veronica.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Is it hard to separate the game from your real life, especially when something happens like your friends voting you into The Ruins?
A. Ibis: I have a difficult time separating it because I’m not jaded. If my friend, or someone I call my friend, calls me in, I feel disposable.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Because you are friends in real life with people, is there a lot of reconciling that needs go on after a challenge wraps, because it requires people to stab each other in the back?
A. Ibis: I would say so. I actually just went through this. I was not happy with hearing Kenny say, “Ibis is our anchor”. It hurt my feelings. I text messaged him and said that I was disappointed in him. We worked it out and we love each other to death but people forget that you’re going to be watching it in six months. There’s a very “I’ll deal with it later” kind of attitude.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was the most difficult aspect of that rope challenge?
A. Ibis: It wasn’t really hard. For me, having been through so much, I had an element of fear of getting hurt. The task wasn’t difficult but I was just scared of getting hurt but that’s why I went there, to overcome that.
Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you feel like you walked away from The Ruins less afraid of taking risks and doing extreme things?
A. Ibis: Absolutely, 100% I would do it all over again because I accomplished exactly what I went there to do. I wanted to break that fear that the accident imposed on me. I did it in the best way possible. I think I brought something different to my team, which was positive energy and niceness. People forget that we’re all human beings.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you think you have another challenge in you?
A. Ibis: I’m pursuing entertainment hosting so I’m focusing on that. I don’t look at it as a career path as people do. It’s fun. It’s time I get to spend with my really good friends. For now, I’m focusing on that. People can go to my website, IbisDelMar.com. We’re going to have webisodes and lots of other cool things up there soon!

I didn't know this about Ibis, either. That's a tough thing to go through. I normally don't find her interesting, but this interview made me like her more. She's honest, she tells you the stuff you wanna know about.

Audrina Partridge to Leave The Hills for Good This Month

Audrina Prepares to Really Let the Cameras In - OK! Magazine - The First for Celebrity News
After three years as one of Lauren Conrad’s BFFs on MTV’s The Hills, Audrina Patridge is graduating to her own MTV reality show, which starts filming in December. “It just comes to a point where it’s time to move on to the next journey,” Audrina, now single after a recent breakup with BMX rider Corey Bohan, tells OK!.
A bona fide sex symbol, the L.A. native lives in denim. “I am a huge fan of jeans,” the sultry star admits. My go-to outfit is jeans, a cute top, and heels.”
OK! visited Audrina at her home in L.A.’s Bel Air neighborhood, where she opened up about her fashion favorites, her friends and her future.
If you could design your ideal jeans, they would be…
I love pants you can wear in the daytime with a cute but simple top and sandals, and then you can totally leave them on for nighttime. Just add cute heels, or boots, and a sexy top, and it totally looks like a different pair of pants.

Are you still friends with Lauren even though she’s no longer on the show?
We touch base every now and then. She’s with Kyle Howard, her boyfriend, all the time. But I have grown really close to Lo [Bosworth] and Stephanie [Pratt]. We have one another’s backs.

Were you upset about Kristin Cavallari’s hookup with your ex Justin Bobby?
I met Kristin a few years ago when I was with Justin. She was dating one of his friends, we were all at the same party, and I was like, “Wow, this girl is really cool.” And then she came on the show, and I thought we were going to be friends. I was in love with Justin and Kristin knew that. For her to go after that one guy…

Do you think you’ll become friends with Kristin?
Maybe in a year’s time, Kristin and I could be friends. You never know.

Why did you and Corey break up?
It was too hard because we were both in completely different worlds; he’s traveling a lot and I am trying to focus on my career. We are still really good friends and talk all the time. It didn’t end badly.

So you’re leaving The Hills after taping ends in November. What’s the premise of your new show?
It’s really me opening up and letting the cameras in. It will show everything: my relationships, my family, the whole Hollywood life, the paparazzi. How it’s not so glamorous. You know, the real me.

I'm confused. I mean, her having a new boyfriend (at the time, it says they just broke up) would explain why she doesn't seem so concerned about Justin-Bobby and Kristin. But it the next episode, it looks like they're hooking up. So I guess at the time it was filmed, she and Cory weren't yet dating. Must have been a rather short-lived relationship.

I wonder if he and Kristin are officially over.

iThe Hills/i Reality Check: 'I'm Done With You'

iThe Hills/i Reality Check: 'I'm Done With You'

This season, we watched as Spencer’s mood flattened until last night’s proof that MTV’s resident villain had died. Heidi tried to get a rise out of him by talking birthday parties, diamond gifts, and kids, but still couldn’t pull Spencer out of his funk. Even when producers spoon-fed him a single line reminiscent of the Spencer we grew to resent, his lifeless delivery ruined the intended effect: Heidi served him coffee and Spencer said, bored, “This married life is starting to pay off. I’m getting delivery service.” Last season, we would have ripped the thin blond beard hair-by-hair out of our Spencer Voodoo Dolls because of this chauvinistic remark. But last night, we felt kind of bad for him and wondered if he had jumped onto the propofol-mainlining rage, calling an unethical doctor to his house before the crew arrived to ensure that he would be unconsciousness through the entirely derivative shoot.

At Heidi’s self-coordinated birthday party party, Spencer passed up a few prime opportunities to humiliate his guests. He meandered around the set nonchalantly until he finally presented Heidi with his producer-supplied gift: two puppies in a designer carrier. When Heidi hugged the unfortunate fluffballs, Spencer muttered something about how the puppies were the only babies she would ever have. Meanwhile, a producer off-camera considered sending a PA out to Colorado to burn down Heidi’s family’s home so that they’d have to crash at Speidi’s house indefinitely. But even that would not awake Spencer from his despondence.

Tonya Cooley Blogs re: Veronica Incident

I will be honest the last couple days since the show have been a complete rollercoaster.

I wanted to take some time after watching the episode to really take the whole experience in. Am i proud of what i did. NO. Am i ashamed of how it all turned out YES.

Everyone by now knows me and my attitude. Do i get angry, YEA ,do i get upset OFTEN.... Do i get violent ,,,,,, Now before i answer that one just look at my track record. I have been on countless challenges for MTV, i have been on other shows for VH1 and in all that time i have never put my hands on anyone in a act of violence.

Everyone has noticed in the clips that the guys are saying that Veronica said something that she shouldn't of and she took it too far. Everyone wants to know what she said that set me off. And there is a part of me that just wants to put it out there, and there is a part of me that is still not ready to talk about it publicly. All i will say is there are certain things that you can never say to a women. There are certain traumatic experiences that scar people for life and no women wants to relive of be reminded of. And for anyone to bring them up with the intent to hurt someone is totally uncalled for. THAT is the reason i was crying in Evans arms and with all the guys. Was i upset that i hit her...Yes... But i was more hurt and betrayed that she would bring that up. Like i said no women wants to be reminded of that happening to them. And veronica knew what she was doing. I can't believe she was surprised when the team had my back. Little miss veronica couldn't hide her spots this time.... Well she didn't have anyone to hide behind.

Everyone has by now seen the clip of us on youtube.
http:../../..www...youtube...com/..watch?..v=VmDzglxBJrs
If you notice she puts her hands on me first. She actually pushes me in the face and then trys to through her cup of romin noodles on me. And yes that water was boiling hot. Hell she even says "YES I WANT YOU TO HIT ME" and even after she pushed me and threw that shit on me i didn't hit her. It was only after what she said, and how deep it cut that i lost it.

I just want to thank Wes for breaking us up. I wish it would of been done sooner and things wouldn't of happened that way, but i can not change the past. But I love him for jumping in. I respect him not only as a competitor but as a friend. And i know Wes gets a bad rep for the things that he does. But he is just playing the game. After all it is only a game. For every move kenny and Evan made wes would counter in his own unique way. And you can't hate his game play if it works.

I wish i could tell all of you that i am sorry, but honestly i am not.... I don't condone violence or my behavior but i will not apologize for finally kicking the crap out of the girl who bullied everyone on the playground. She had it coming.

The Real World Road Rules Challenge: Fresh Meat 2, which is currently being filmed, began on September 17th and will wrap up by the end of October. It's scheduled to air in the Spring 2010.
The cast (not confirmed) sounds really boring. The only exciting people are Kenny and Wes. This can't be the complete list, though, b/c there's an uneven number of males and females.

Males:
Darrell Taylor (Road Rules: Campus Crawl)
Landon Lueck (Real World: Philadelphia)
Wes Bergmann (Real World: Austin)
Danny Jamieson (Real World: Austin)
Kenny Santucci (Fresh Meat)
Ryan Kehoe (Fresh Meat)
Christian "CJ" Koegel (Real World: Cancun)

Jillian Zoboroski (Road Rules: X-Treme)
Paula Meronek (Real World: Key West)
Evelyn Smith (Fresh Meat)

Exclusive Interview With Katie Doyle

"The Ruins" was more hostile than most Challenges, says Katie. "Nobody got along. Usually I'll fight with people, but I'll have my core group of friends." Not this time. "Anybody I've ever had a fight with happened to be on my team," she says. "All of the older cast members, we're sick of each other."

It's jarring to readjust back to normal life in Chicago, she says. "When I came back this time, I had to lock myself into my room. I was just acting like a psycho. If the pizza guy forgot my ranch, I'd be like, 'What's your problem?'

"This Challenge was my toughest one, the hardest emotionally," says Katie. "I don't cry on these shows. But on this one, I got very close. My eyes may have watered a little bit. I would love to punch some people in the face, but you can't do that. Who does that anyway?"

Judge Calls Evidence "Quite Disturbing"

The judge in the Audrina Patridge case just said the evidence was "quite disturbing" and granted a 3-year restraining order against her alleged stalker.

The judge said, "It's unfortunate that people who pursue careers in the public have to deal with these people," referring to Zachary Loring.

Audrina read one of the creepy poems Loring sent to her on the stand. The poem was titled "Damzel."

oh, and here's his myspace. maybe a little time in the limelight will give him a taste of his own medicine. the PR, I'm sure, are giving him just that.

The Ruins Trailer

http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping

Tonya & Evelyn Argue

I feel sorry for Tonya, she's gone from a crazy, pretty, winning party girl to a sad, broken down, pathetic woman. I think what happened on Inferno 2 with Rachel and Veronica really did a # on her, psychologically. She seems a lot more fragile than she used to be. You can even tell by the way she's freaking out here (if you notice, Veronica's sitting on the couch right next to them).

if you look at the season trailer, she slaps Veronica.

It Has To Be Said

Shavon has gained a shitload of weight since her original season (RW Sydney). This was her then. (on the right)

This is her now, on The Ruins (she's the 1 in front, on the far right, all the way at the end)

she's gained like 40 pounds, no joke. She's not fat, but 5 more pounds and she will be.

Evan & Veronica

If you look at The Ruins tailer, Evan and Veronica hook up. This clip from Challenge Dailies (literally, updated daily) shows them flirting. Anyone notice a pattern here? Evan has a thing for the Mean Girls. He's had the chance to hook up with sooo many of the female castmembers, but he has no use for them. He doesn't seem to have much use for the female castmembers, period, except for Coral (his partner on Fresh Meat), Rachel and Veronica. Those are the only 3 he seems to find attractive, and those are the only 3 he's ever seemingly showed respect for.

Interview With Evan - Post-Ruins

This is the second of 2 interviews with Evan Starkman via TV Casualty (Here's the 1st one, Pre-Ruins), which was conducted in June, after filming of The Ruins had just wrapped up.

How are you?
I’m all right. I’m doing all right.

Well, you have $100,000, so that must be nice.
Yeah. I have half of it so far, but it feels pretty good.

Why do you only have half of it?
I don’t know; some bizarre payment where they send the first half when the first episode airs and the second half after the finale. But apparently the mail hasn’t gotten here yet.

What are you planning to do with your winnings?
Just be a stay-at-home dad. No, I really don’t know. I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve put some money into a clothing company Kenny and I are starting called Suck Yeah clothing and that’s it. I’m looking for good ideas.

You already have another clothing company, Branch Out Clothing. How is Suck Yeah different?
Branch Out Clothing is a not-for-profit clothing company. We actually just signed a great deal with Plan Canada to produce shirts for them to support their “Because I’m a Girl” campaign. Branch Out is now partnered with them and the only shirts we make support “Because I’m a Girl.” It’s an incredible mission to raise the status of women worldwide and basically ensure that young girls in most of the third world go to high school. If they go to high school then they’re recognized as people more, so it’s a good opportunity to have. But Suck Yeah is a fun way to have a bromance with Kenny. It’s just for-profit.

You’re having a bromance… for money?
Well, no, Kenny and I are great friends and we wanted to do something together. We were joking one day about the status of T-shirts in the world for men, which include jewels and skulls and horses with skulls for heads and all kinds of angry things. We felt that was sorta lame, so we wanted to make what T-shirts should be: just tacky, old T-shirts.

Tell me about the final challenge in the Duel, where you had to swim and bike and do a bunch of mini-challenges.
The one thing is that they really don’t do a good job of showing was how far that race was. It was about 14 miles. It kinda looks like we jump from point to point, but just the section of walking uphill with bikes – we couldn’t ride uphill because it was too steep. Brad and I walked with our bikes for four-and-a-half hours. We were about 30 feet apart and every so often I’d be like, “You wanna take a break?” And he’d be like, “OK, but you stand right there and I’ll stand right here!” When I was carrying the ring with Britney, we walked together for about two-and-a-half hours. It’s quite a long process. I’ve received a lot of mail concerning my reading comprehension [Evan misread one set of instructions and ended up climbing a pole while carrying a bicycle on his back]. I haven’t really come up with anything clever to say about that other than to say I’m an idiot. I really am.

Well, it all worked out.
All in all, it did work out. I would say it was one of the best days of my life. I was an athlete growing up and I’ve never pushed my body like that. It was incredibly difficult.

How long were you racing that day?
We started at six in the morning and I finished – well, Brad and I finished – around 5:30 p.m. They actually had to pick Mark and Aneesa up on four-wheelers. The producers were like, “The sun’s going down and we really need to finish this shot.” The magic of television!

Why does Aneesa keep going on challenges without doing any training beforehand?
I ask that about a lot of the women who come on the show. Ultimately, just so you know, her training is at a strip club. That’s where she works. I don’t know. For me, I have a lot of fun on these shows, and they are kind of silly and chintzy, but I understand that when I am invited on the show, I’m given the opportunity to compete for money. It’s a total blessing. And I have good odds! When I showed up in New Zealand, there were 13 guys, so I had a 1 in 13 chance; you’re not going to do better than that. So I try to get ready. By no means am I Superman, but I try to prepare, and some people just miss the memo on that. I don’t know what they’re expecting, but it’s pretty funny to watch some people come and realize, “Oh, you just… don’t care about the money. At all.” Which is unbelievable, especially if you’re a stripper. It’s not like, oh, you’re rolling in cash. She’s been paying her bills in singles for a long time!

Was Brad pissed that you beat him by, what, half a second?
Yes. Brad is a great guy and he’s done a lot of these shows and never won. I think he’s on eight or nine. He was pretty upset. It was a pretty unbelievable sequence of events; I really don’t know what went wrong. I feel bad. Not that bad, because I’m rich, but I definitely feel bad.

What was the deal with him and Tori breaking up?
It was very bizarre the last few weeks. Another thing they never really highlight on the show is the mental anguish that we’re all in. I said it a thousand times, but you’re not allowed to have an iPod, there’s no stereo, there’s no television. If you have a book, they take your book away. Prisoners are given books and the Internet and we don’t have any distractions. And then you’re in a house you can’t leave. You can’t be like, “Hey, we want to go out!” You can’t even go for a jog. It’s beyond prison. So Tori just reached this wall where she crumbled mentally, made Brad’s life sort of terrible and when she lost to Aneesa, we’re all sort of like, “Wow, that’s really pathetic. How did you lose to Aneesa?” She gave Brad this note that she had a dream where she lost but then Brad went on to win and… [laughs] I don’t know. I saw Brad recently; Tori wasn’t there, thank God. They’re getting married in April of next year and they’re happy and it’s all good.

A big aspect to the show this season was the social hierarchy, with everyone picking their friends until only one person is left.
Yeah, the whole popularity contest.

You were pretty much at the top the whole time, but you were still targeted a lot.
Yeah. I’m used to, I guess, getting a bit of a free ride on these shows. I don’t know if it’s deserved or not. I guess some of the people who don’t prepare for the challenges look at me – I mean, not only do I train hard, but I put all my T-shirts in the dryer twice before I go, so I look like a really big guy around the house because the shirts are so tight. I don’t know, I’m not used to getting called out as much as I did, which made the experience a lot more difficult. But ultimately, I think it helped me because I was more prepared for the final, mentally. Once you go into the duel enough times, you look at your competition and you’re like, “Well, if I can’t beat this guy, I probably shouldn’t be here.” Ultimately, it sucks going in and I went against a lot of good players, but if I can’t beat Davis, just go home, Evan. But I don’t know why people came after me.

Well, it was probably because you were taking charge of the game; obviously the people on the bottom were trying to change that.

You know what it is? I’m a pretty vocal guy. A lot of the veterans who came on the show are sort of quiet, mature people, I guess you would call them. I definitely have a target on my back and I don’t make any mistakes about how I feel about certain things. I always look at these shows as three phases. Despite there being different rules and there being different roads to the final, there’s always been a pattern, and it goes like this: the first few weeks are probably the most nerve-wracking because you’re learning what the game is and the house is full of new people who have never done the challenges. So the hierarchy doesn’t matter to them and they feel like, “Well, I’m going home anyway because people are going to throw me under the bus, so I’m just going to go after the top dogs or go after Evan because why not? I’m going home anyway.” You don’t know what they’re thinking, you don’t have alliances with them because they’re new and you’re just sorta like, “Yeah, get out of here.” The middle weeks are pretty mellow because everyone’s falling into pretty strong alliances and they get the game and it’s simple, the way the game flows. You know if you’re going in and everyone agrees, for some reason, on the way of things. And then at the end, the way I try and do it, I just hope that I’ve fooled people long enough that I can pull the rug out from underneath them and it’s too late for them to do anything about it. That’s sort of the plan. It just happened to work out on this one.

On the first episode, Diem seemed like a lost little puppy who didn’t now what she wanted. Did she experience any personal growth that you saw, or is she still as lost as she ever was?
Yeeeah… uh… It’s weird. Maybe it’s because I haven’t looked in the mirror long enough, but it seems that the longer people do these shows, it’s a slippery slope. Some people just slowly and surely deteriorate. When we first met Diem, she was Little Miss America. She was a teen idol and doing all these great things. She’s still a total sweetheart but a lot more wine is involved. A lot of red wine and paranoia. Diem’s true colours are sort of out. She’s lost. I love Diem because in all the shows I’ve done with her, for some reason, she’s convinced that she should get some kind of free ride right to the end. Every time she’s called out to go into the duel, it’s a mega production. Somebody should give her an award. It’s like, [fake crying] “Oh my God! I can’t believe it!” It’s like, there’s only four girls left! How did you not think you were going to get called out? Every time I was her partner, she was like, “You know, I think I’m really over my fear of heights,” and then as soon as we get up there, she’s screaming and crying. Some of these kids are buying mirrors that, when you look into them, you’re seeing a different person than the rest of the world sees. I would like to know where they’re buying these mirrors. We should all have them, actually. You look great in them, apparently.

So the last time we talked, you were just about to go on another challenge. Can you tell me anything about it?
I can’t tell you a thing about it. [He later tells me stuff about it anyway, but, like I said, I can't reveal any of it.] When did we last talk? Oh, you know what’s really funny? The last article you wrote, I said something about Robin and her child.

Yes.
Oh, yeah. Somehow her or her fiancé came across that article and I got some pretty heavy mail. I should forward you the email. She’s pretty upset.

Was it not true?
Well, it’s just sort of mean-spirited. I say things – I hope you put this – I say a lot of things that are jokes. In writing, I look bad. It’s like the opposite of my résumé, where I look good on paper but if you actually knew what I did, you’d never hire me. Sometimes in writing, I come across as… a mean guy. Overly arrogant, cocky guy. I really don’t feel like that. I mean, in The Duel 2, how much footage was there of me reading Eat Pray Love? A lot. I’m fully, fully a lesbian. No, I’m trying to be really positive and Robin is due, I think, right now. Having the baby or had the baby. It’s really hard for me to believe that she’s not still doing Percocet, but I wish her the best, I really do.
